"Hi! I’m Paul from Eastern Mountain Sports. On behalf of expertvillage.com, I am going to properly demonstrate how to coil and stow a rope. I’ve already coiled one-half of it. Always mark the center of your rope for safety reasons. Now here is how to coil the other half and it is the exact same way I coil the first half. I’m going to take it behind my head, grab the other side of it like this and take that behind my head and continue to do so back and forth. While doing this, I am also checking and feeling for any frays, nicks or tears in the rope and any hour glassing which means the rope would seem a little bit flat and it wouldn’t be cylindrical piece of nylon. As I do this, always make sure to never step on your roof at any time while they are being stored or using it because dirt can get inside of the rope and degrade your rope which will lower the lifespan of your rope. Now that I have finished, I will place the other half on the other side of the bag, roll the bag into itself in the center and roll it into its own little compartment here, just like so. Never store the bag in the trunk. Store it in a cool dry place. "
