"Hi! I’m Paul from Eastern Mountain Sports on behalf of expertvillage.com. I want to properly demonstrate how to clean a climbing rope after its use. You will know that a rope is dirty because it will be brown and black and it will make your hands dirty while using it out while you are climbing. To properly clean it, use a mild detergent or a rope wash which you can get at any outdoor store. Fill a bucket full of water, put your rope in it and pour some of that rope wash or mild detergent in the bucket. Knead it and try to get the dirt out as best as you can for about 5 to 10 minutes. After that is finished, just let the bucket set for about 2 hours. Two hours later come back and squeegee any excess water off of it into the bucket like so. After you have finished that, let dry loosely around your yard or driveway or wherever there is room. After the rope is dry, powerfully wrap it and store in a cool and dry place. "
