"Hi! I’m Paul from Eastern Mountain Sports on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to demonstrate how to properly maintain and store a caribeiner and a quick draw. All locking caribeiner’s should lock freely and smoothly, just this so. Also, the gate should spring back on its own. It should not be helped. Thoroughly look over the entire caribeiner and make sure there are no cracks or chips out of it. Likewise with the quick draw, make sure its beiner’s on each side the gates spring back freely and that there are no chips or cracks in either of these beiner’s. Also, make sure that the stitching on the webbing is secure and that there are no nicks, tears or frays in this webbing. Quick draws and caribeiner’s can be stored together in your climbing bag or in a cool dry place. Make sure they are away from all of the runners though that does not nick or fray or degrade them. "
