"Thanks for joining me on Expert Village. My name is Patrick Kitten with the Wind Riders Disc Golf Club Lubbock, Texas, beautiful MacKenzie Park. We are going to talk a little bit about how a round is played. Now when you play in a tournament a PGDA sanctioned tournament, the rules are little tighter, everything else, but really to have fun at the game, let us live by the rules at all times. Couple of things that we should discuss: You get to the tee pad, who should go first? Well, make that selection, write it on your score card, and that is your teeing order. Okay then everybody drives, you do the drive, and in another segment we talked about this, of using a mini-marker to mark your lie and that’s where your next throw goes from, and your next throw (hopefully not too many more throws, hopefully you are getting birdies on the courses all the time,) but make sure you use your mini or you do have an option to throw from behind your disc. If you choose not to use a mini, you can’t use another disc to mark, you have to throw from behind that disc. You finish the hole out, you get to the next hole and everybody is looking at what drive they’re going to throw next. Forgot something? Make sure you share the scoring throughout the round, and make sure that you call out the scores for everyone to hear. It is just courtesy to call out the scores, make sure that you do that as well. To finish out, scoring after you do the shared scoring at the end of the round, make sure that you total your scores correctly. The totals should not be 5 over or 11 down, or whatever it might be, but it should be 54 or 73, it should be the total, okay. The next thing to think about is different courses, the beauty of the sport is that we have such diversity, we have trees, we have water, we have other obstacles, each one’s going to have obstacles that might include out of bounds. Make sure that you truly know the out of bounds. On most courses, streets and cross streets are out of bounds, not on all courses though. If you go into the water, and your disc is completely surrounded by water that is out of bounds, that means that you would take a one stroke penalty and then continue play. Another thing that we should discuss just a little bit is some courses because of safety reasons or may be some other reasons might have some mandatories. So if you see an arrow on a tree or on a pole, go around that arrow. Some courses might have some drop zone. So make sure that you know those three things: OB rules, the mandatories and the drop zones. "
