The game of disc golf, also called Frisbee golf, D-Golf, and frolf is very similar to traditional golf, only played with flying discs rather than clubs and golf balls. Its origins date back almost 100 years, but modern disc golf developed in the 1960s around the UC Berkley campus. Today there are thousands of disc golf courses across the globe, and it continues to gain popularity as fun and affordable (usually free) outdoor recreation.
In this video series our expert Patrick Kitten offers you strategy techniques for playing the sport of disc golf, including how to throw over trees and water hazards, various putting techniques and specialty shots, a practice regimen, different types of games and tips on locating and traveling to a disc golf course in another city or town. Once you develop a basic understanding of the rules of the game and a good playing strategy you’ll be well on your way to competing with the pros.
"Thanks for joining me on Expert Village. Hello, I am Patrick Kitten with the Wind Riders Disc Golf Club at beautiful McKinsey Park in Lubbock, Texas. Another putting technique would be a straddle putt. Straddle putts are really great whenever you are putting up hill or maybe there is an obstacle of some bushes between you and the basket and you have to stretch around them - stretch around a tree or a bush or if you are putting uphill it works well. This is a straddle putt, you should get your legs at a decent width, be comfortable and do not get them too far apart. Bend your knees a little bit and putt and sometimes you miss."
