"Hi my name is Peter with Expert Village and today I am going to talk to you about cross country running. Now a few tips that I just want to go over again especially now that you are going to be a cross country runner and you guys are going to be part of a team. Let's start with the basics. Make sure that you have the proper attire, a tank top, some light shorts, nylon material. Some correct-fitting shoes, so make sure that you go to a place where they can actually measure out the pressure and everything. As well as remember that when you guys go out there, you guys are going to be a team, so there is no I in team. You are all together in on it so you are just as fast as the slowest person on your team. And with time that is actually going to increase because you guys will break off in twos, you guys will be doing total body workouts together, push ups, sit ups. You guys are going to stretch afterwards. Always remember the biggest mistake a lot of runners do is, ask anyone that you know about shin splints, you can look it up online, everyone always gets shin splints because they do not do proper stretching afterwards. No matter what, after a run you want to do not only a cool down for about two to five minutes, but then you want to take the time to do about a good five minutes of stretching. All of your legs, your calves, your quads, your thighs, your hamstrings, just everything. And your upper body. And that is going to help you sleep better at night, and prevent all the injuries as well. And you want to make sure that you know your courses well too. Okay? So whatever the course may be, you know you can see a big tree over there, and you know that is like your mile marker."
