" Hi Reyno Benjamin with expertvillage.com. We are talking a little bit about conditioning for hockey. Most of your conditioning comes from running or riding a bike. Definitely lifting weights as well. Most of the power comes from your legs. A lot of individuals mistaken that, if you are big up here, you can take a great slap shot. That is not true. Everything is from your legs. If you have good leg conditioning you can really take a good shot and control what you are doing. Your knees are always slightly bent. Your stick is right here. It is almost like a baseball swing. You make a motion to transferring the weight from back to front. You follow through. For example, when you are taking a slap shot, you’re starting up here and your body, your legs are this way and you just follow it through. Just like martial arts as well. So you got to have good conditioning in your legs. Upper body strength is important as well. But it mainly comes from bending your knees. Having a good grip on your stick. And it basically like a sling shot. Side to side. If you watch my feet here you’re going like when I'm taken a shot you go from here, turning, and I'm following through."
