Series Summary

Way back in Japan of the 1880's, fellow students picked on poor little Jogoro. He began Martial Arts training to fend off these bullies, yet found most of the moves he learned just got him beat up even more. His fellow students were much bigger than Jogoro and simply overpowered him. Determined to be able to defend himself, he invented his own type of Martial Arts, one which uses an opponent's size and strength against them. Applying his new Judo techniques, Jogoro was able to defeat these big bullies with a variety of throws, rolls and holds which turn an attacker's momentum into the defender's advantage. Jogoro Kano's new Martial Art was so successful that it continues to win converts to this day, from young children to senior citizens. In addition to building a student's physical agility and self confidence, the Judo philosophy seeks to improve their mental abilities as well.
