"Were back and I want to just explain the break to you. Let's go over, in detail what the break is really about. Because of the break having so many different scenarios, I'm going to try to show you the basic scenarios of all the different types of breaks and what happens after you break them. The first break that we're going to talk about is a legal break. A legal break is determined, by first of all having ball in hand behind the line. Ball in hand is another term that where you can put the ball anywhere you want. In 8 ball though, it means behind the line, that line where everything back here is neutral. So when you break the balls the first thing you want to do is have two things happen. You want to either pocket a ball and not scratch, a scratch is another terminology when the ball, the que ball, the white ball, goes into a pocket. You loose your turn and it's a foul. That's not good. Let's talk about a legal shot. A legal shot is when you do two things. You either pocket a ball, or one or more balls and the que doesn't scratch or two, you legally hit four balls into a rail and don't scratch. And again a scratch is when the que ball doesn't go in a pocket. Let me show you. Remember, a legal shot, we're just doing legal shot here, I'll go over fouls and everything later with the other different breaks. Legal shot is when either four balls hit a rail and the que ball doesn't scratch, or one of the object balls go in and it doesn't scratch. You can see there I didn't make a ball but definitely four balls hit a rail. You see I didn't make a ball there on the break, but it was still a legal shot because I didn?t scratch and definitely four balls hit a rail. Let me try another one where I actually make a ball. Here's another legal break where I actually make a ball on the break. So there's your two legal breaks. Come back, I'm going to show you some more scenarios of what happens when you break the balls."
