How are you doing? My name is Qaeem. I’m going to be demonstrating Shorin-Ryu Karate. In Shorin-Ryu Karate, we have many different stances. The stance that I’m going to be demonstrating right now is the back stance, also known as the fighting stance or it is a stance that you are generally in, when you are in ?? (015), which is when you are sparring someone. This stance is a very comfortable stance. Your weight is not… I will say more than 75 or 25, which means 75% of your weight is going to be on your back leg, 25% of your weight is going to be on your front leg. Now, in the back stance, once again, you are starting from the ready position. You’re going to step out with your left leg. Unlike the cat stance, both of your feet are going to be planted flat on the ground. What you’re going to do is just bend both your knees. Weight is going to be on your back leg, some weight is going to be on your front leg. Now, this stance is called the back stance because generally most of the weight is on your back leg. You can still do the same movements as if you are using the cat stance and the back stance, which means that you can easily get a front kick out of it, you can punch, you can block, you can easily move from side to side. There are many different moves that you can get from the back stance. Now, this is the back stance that we are going to be teaching you right now in the beginner stage, which you are just going to start off from the ready position and then step out. Your back foot is going to be facing the side. Your front foot is going to be facing forward and you are just going to bend your knee. This is the back stance. Ladies and gentleman that is the back stance. Once again, on behalf of Expert Village my name is Qaeem, thank you for watching.
