" How are you doing? My name is Qaeem, on behalf of Expert Village. I’m going to be demonstrating the forward stance in Shorin-Ryu karate. Generally, the forward stance is same in all styles. Generally, you are going to start out, feet together, which is your ready position. What you are going to do, you’re going to step forward and you’re going to step out. You’re going to apply weight to your front leg and you’re going to bend your knee. Your back foot is going to be foot facing with an angle; your front is going to be facing forward. In order to check the position correctly, to make sure that you have a correct forward stance, you go down; you should be able to put your fist right in between your knee and your foot. If your knee and your foot doesn’t touch your fist then you are too far. Come back up and again your forward stance. We’re going to down, we’re going to go on to a forward stance, and you’re going to go down and check. Put one fist between, come up, and that is your forward stance. You’re going to apply weight to your front stance. Now, we are going to do this moving forward. When you’re moving forward you’re going to come up, be in a ready position, go down into your forward stance, and I will block. Step up forward, you’re going to open the gate, open the gate, which means is going to turn your foot and then you are stepping forward. Come up to the left foot and step out. You’re going to come up to your right foot and step up. We’re going to do that again. Start him back in ready position. You’re going to step out. You’re going to open the gate and come foot-to-foot and you are going to step out. Open the gate, come foot-to-foot and step out. There is the forward stance. My name is Qaeem, on behalf of Expert Village. Thank you for watching."
