Video Transcript

" On behalf of Expert Village my name is Ralph Reyes. I'm the Dojo-cho and the aikido instructor at Chi Martial Arts in Miami Shores, Florida. Today we are going to learn beginners techniques in aikido. Okay in the beginners level technique, the techniques are normally performed in what we call Kihon-waza. Kihon-waza are basic movements that are done in forms. Basically taking each strike and separating them and putting them together until the technique is performed. As an illustration I will show you in this technique shomen uchi-dai ikkyo. First he is going to attack, and as he attacks I'm going to step in. Then I will bring the arm down, which will be the second part of this technique; and finishing by bringing him to the floor and pinning his arm."
