"Hi! This is Pat Weber with the San Diego Surfing Academy for expertvillage.com. This is the surfing leash. The cuff is going to attach to your ankle down here. This reel saver is going to attach to the board. The leash is thought of as a safety device because it keeps my board from hitting you, your board from hitting me, loose boards from washing up on the rocks, either creating property damage to the board or even bodily injury to somebody bathing. Be careful, because a leash caught in your finger could actually break your finger. A leash caught around your toes could do the same thing. I like to treat the leash as though it wasn't even there. I never go grabbing for it or anything like that. I am acting like I don't even have a leash on and that is how I am working with the board. Here's the reel saver. It keeps the cord from pulling through and creating damage, and then the Velcro on the leash is what allows you to attach it and keep it snug. "
