"So in this clip, I'm going to talk about prepping the spokes. It's important to prepare the threads on the spoke to accept the nipple, and to give you a long life out of the wheel. We use a spoke compound made by WheelSmith, called Spoke Prep. It is a compound that adheres to the threaded area of the spoke, limits corrosion, and keeps the spoke nipple from vibrating loose under normal wheel loads. It's an important part of a wheel build, in my opinion. Okay, we've acquired our spokes of the correct length and count: in this case, 265mm. Now we're going to prep them and prepare them for use. So we'll do a light coating of Spoke Prep on the threaded area of the spoke; WheelSmith builds it with a nice blue color. Then, we can begin to lace the wheel. "
