Video Transcript

"Sabre Fencing is held on a strip, or piste. The length of our strip is forty-five feet, the width is four to six feet. We have an en garde line. This is an en garde line, and this is an en garde line. Our fencers are now en garde. Our score machine is electrical, all the wiring overhead you see that comes down, and into the sword, is how our score is conducted. As our fencers go forward and touch, you will see the light will come on as it completes the circuit. Having gotten the light, the referee will put a point on the score machine. Fencing is held in the language of French, that being the international language. Many words you will hear, as the referee calls points, will be in French."
