"Right now I want to teach you a little bit about how to catch a foul ball. Ideally you probably get most of your foul balls during batting practice because it's a lot easier to get closer to the field. Or a lot of times especially down the first base and third base line, probably around the visiting bullpen and home bullpen you'll see a lot of balls kind of trickle that way, especially on ground balls coming out of the batting cage. They'll just trickle down to you, I know I've at least caught ten like that. It's a lot of fun, because a lot of times the players are kind of coming towards you, your reaching down over the rail and a lot of times there's a little interaction there. So it's a lot of fun. During batting practice in the bleachers is also a lot of fun too because they're hitting a lot of home runs. It's because that's basically what they're supposed to be doing, they're supposed just getting their swing right for the game. You see a lot of home runs. So it's really important to pay attention if you?re in the bleachers during times that sluggers are up. Guys who hit a lot of home runs, because during batting practice you'll see them hit as many as 25 home runs. And I know I caught a couple of Mark McGuire home runs during batting practice and it was a lot of fun. It's great to have the interaction, you're all fighting for the balls, I mean as long as you don't get violent about it, it's a lot fun. Because you're competing, there's a little competition amongst fans to get the ball. Now if you're talking about during the game and you're trying to be in an ideal spot to, to catch a foul ball, a lot of times it?s great to be in the second deck right behind home plate. If a hitter can't catch up to a pitcher's fast ball, a lot of times, what they'll do, is they'll just miss it and it'll, it'll top off the back part of the bat and go directly up over the cage, over the mesh right behind home plate, and it will go up to the second deck. Rarely will it go up just enough to go into the first, it will pop back, you're right there. Being off to the left or right hand side of home plate in the second deck is also ideal. Because a lot of times, these guys are great hitters so they're getting a lot of power and they're not going to be hitting these little dinky foul balls. Further down the right field and left field lines, in the first deck is also ideal, because that's usually where you will see a lot of foul balls that are just barely foul. So looking at those spots when you're buying tickets, they can be somewhat expensive, not overly expensive like sitting directly behind home plate on the first deck. You're looking probably most of the time between $20 and $30 per seat for these tickets. Which, you know, if you really want to get a foul ball maybe worth it. You've just got to position it right, be ready for it at all times. Have your glove in hand and, and be ready to go. Always keep, you know pay attention. If you?re worried about your kids getting hurt, make sure they're wearing a glove or just make sure you're alert all the time so that you can protect them."
