"Hi, this is Mike Braeuer in Austin, Tx with Climb On Adventures. In using the prusik knot that we've tied to our fixed line, anchored at the top. We have two prusik knots with accessory cord and we can actually ascend a fixed line if we needed to. If we didn't have mechanical ascenders, jumars, we could use a system like this. So I have a prusik with a long cord to a foot and I have a prusik attached to my belay loop and a device. And so when I lower the prusik I can stand on the knot itself and I can unlock my waist, slide it up, and then I can sit on that prusik. While I loose the foot, slide it up and I can stand on that one. Loose this knot, weight it, and loose the foot and so forth. As you can see it's not the easiest but they are functional, certainly serve to rescue you or your buddy if need to be."
