"The first step, when it comes to replacing some shift housing, or shift cable, is removing what you've got on there now. So, with this Shram shifter, we've got a little cable change port right there. So to get easier access, I'm going to move the brake lever up out of the way a little bit, so I get better access. So I loosen the pivot bolt for the brake lever, and I'll just stick them up there, move around. We can see there's a little hatch right there, that the cable goes through. So, to prepare to remove the cable, I'm going to take my cable cutters, and cut off this end cap here. Which is what you put on the end of the brake cable, brake or shift cable, to keep it from fraying. Then I will release all the tension, by using my 5 mm allen wrench, and turning this cable clamp, bolt, to the left, to loosen it up. See, that is loose. So, I've done this section of cable. This actually feels pretty clamped here. As i run the housing across the cable, you can hear it. If you can hear it, that means there's friction. There are a lot of cramps and other things, so. I'll take this section of housing, put it on the table, and save it until I've removed all the housing, to use it as a guide for cutting more housing to replace it with."
