"So then you know with my chain rings on here and everything else I'm going to peddle the cranks. And I'm going to continuously shift up to the middle chain ring and shift down. And what I'm going to do is add cable tension until it's smoothly and quickly shifting up to that middle chain ring and then really no quicker than that. Then the second step and hopefully last step of this whole operation is going to be setting my outer limit. So the outer limit or high limit is the next barrel adjuster and that controls how far out, in combination with cable tension that is, my derailed will move. You see as I turn this it moves the derailed in and out. And that is the sort of fine adjustment that makes sure that your chain doesn't derail off the outside of your crank iron. With that thing its the same sort of thing you just want to tweak everything so that the cage is adjusted a little bit to the outside of your chain ring instead of being right up on it and rubbing you want to give it some adjustment so it comes out a little bit. As it comes out the farther out you go the more likely the chance with a hard shift you're going to shift right off. So that's where you fine tune between your barrel adjuster, for your cable tension, and your limit adjuster to make sure that everything works sweetly. So that's front derailed adjustment. Good luck with it. Have some patience and enjoy your ride."
