Series Summary

Offensive linemen are the underappreciated workhorses of football, not only of the offense, but of the whole team. About the only time announcers mention their names is when they have been flagged with a penalty. But let us not forget that the quarterback would not have had time to throw that game-winning touchdown if he had not had great protection from the offensive line. And guess who opened up that big hole in the defense which allowed the running back to break through for a spectacular run? Offensive lineman may not get the glory, but they are a crucial part of the game.

In this free series of football instructional videos, our varsity high school lineman shares advice and tips on what it takes to become an expert offensive lineman. Mike Nguyen outlines the physical qualities necessary for the position, and tells you the basic steps you will need to master for that first high school tryout. Then he gets serious with analysis of how to block on pass plays and pulling plays as well as how to defend those crafty spin moves from the defensive linemen. He concludes with advice on how to get into shape and nutrition tips on how to stay healthy.
