"Whenever you're creeking or you're paddling downstream and you want to make yourself look good, you want to try not to flip cause that would prevent injury. That would keep you in your boat and that would just keep your momentum moving. Now if you do flip and you're creeking, you should know how to do a roll because some of these rivers are very shallow and you don't want to stay underwater for very long. You rather not swing them especially if you have to swim a long way. The roll that everybody learns either the seated seater or the sweep roll or a combination of both. The most important thing to remember about that especially in creeks is really have your face towards that deck as soon as you flip. Cause as soon as you flip you want to make sure that you're not having your face expose to rocks especially if you're in a shallow river. So as soon as I flip I know to go right to my sit up position, I go straight up to my deck, put the paddle on the outside of my boat and keep my face cover so I'm not hitting any rocks in the front of my face but I'm hitting them from the back of my helmet."
