"Hi, my name is Ajugadu. On behalf of Expert Village, we're going to talk a little bit about a kick in Capoeira called Quexada. Ok, Quexada is one of the, what I like to call the three basic kicks of Capoeira. These three basic kicks are the foundation of all the more difficult kicks in Capoeira, and you have to really train them a lot in order to, in order to move on to the more difficult things. So, we usually focus a lot on these kicks. Quexada, you want to start with a nice, wide base, almost like a dodge that we call Quebrada. Ok you start on a dodging position, and then your back foot is going to move up behind your front foot. At that point, you want to twist your upper body; your arms are up to protect your face, even while you're kicking. You want to twist your upper body. Because that's where the power and the speed of the kick comes from, and then, what was your front leg, is going to swing up. You would strike your opponent, or the person you're playing, or whatever you want to call it. You would strike them with the outer edge of your foot. And then the leg pulls all the way down, and all the way to the back. Now when you're training Quexada, as with all the other basic Capoeira kicks, you want to make sure that you land, when you're first learning these kicks, you want to make sure to land them all the way to the back. The reason for that is, because it teaches your body, correct, the correct technique so that you can do the kick with the correct amount of speed and power. If you have a habit of just kind of landing the kick wherever, it makes it more difficult to get the technique correct. Once you've landed it to the back a lot for several months, and you know how to do the kick correctly, then you can kind of start landing it to the front to some other positions."
