"MICKEY DENONCOURT: And for someone who spends most of their time during the summer and spring doing road racing, the thing that is probably going to come the easiest to you are going to be closing gaps, accelerating, really going fast on the open sections. So what you want to think about when you're riding through the same sort of miniature loop that I'm going to ride through right now is you want to be smooth through the corners. You want to make up time; you don't want to lose time through the corners. But if there's somebody five or six bike lengths ahead of you, just do that quick acceleration that's second nature to you and get back up to them. So I might arc a little bit less gracefully through the corners than somebody who spends all summer doing it but really focus on getting a good acceleration going to really try to get off them and get those positions. So you know, it's just good to know your strengths and it's good to, as they say, raise your strengths and train your weaknesses."
