"MICKEY DENONCOURT: It's usually too hot to wear full tights all the way from your--all the way down to your ankle because you're going so hard. They also when they get wet, they get heavy and stuff like that. So something that we call a knee warmer or instead of buying full tights, you can buy a knicker, which is just shorts and a knee warmer built-in. It's going to be nice. This is shorter. It goes from your mid calf down to--I mean, your mid thigh down to around your mid calf. It just keeps your whole knee area warm and clean and moving smoothly because exposing your knees when it's cold out is really bad. You can hear them creaking and popping and stuff like that. Another good thing to have is a nice selection of just real thin, lightweight raingear and stuff like this. This is something I can throw in my pocket that's going to keep me pretty dry, and I mean you can see it really compacts well. So this is too hot to race in but for like training and warming up, it's a pretty key item. The other thing to talk about cross is a lot of people race in a full-skin suit, which is your shorts and your jersey are all one piece. The reason people do that is A, because you're getting off the bike and running so much, there's less stuff to snag, and it's a little bit easier, the layer under a skin suit, because they're stretchy, so however many base layers you need to put on to stay warm they'll fit."
