"When you're riding a sand section, there's always the possibility that you're going to get bogged down and have to get off the bike. When you're getting off in the sand, you can't just swing all your weight forward like you would when you're dismounting on hard terrain. Instead usually what you need to end up doing, is you sort of throw the bike in front of you to get some speed. And you know, sort of have to throw it off like that. If you try to just get off of your bike over the front like you do on hard ground, you're going to get bogged down, jackknife and go down. So as you start to lose it, what you want to do, I'll swing into the, swing in this way to show you, this is hard terrain here, but you get the idea. So you sort of get off the back more than you normally would. So instead of putting your foot through, you put your foot back, unclip, push the bike ahead and then get a half step to pick it up and start running. Similar when you're running in mud or snow or anything like that, where the front wheel you know, is too light, gets bogged down and jackknives, you want to create some speed for the bike, so it keeps going, so you can pick it up more easily."
