Video Transcript

"Before you learn how to get back on a bike, cyclo-cross style, you must learn how to get off. We are going to assume the you are riding a Cyclocross bike and that you have clipless pedals that your feet clip into. The first thing that you want to do is get off on the left side of a bike. So, you want to unclip your right foot and slide it around the back. Generally, your left foot will still be clipped in. You want to step through this process. First, you want to swing your leg through, put your right foot down and then pick up your left foot. As I do this in motion, you'll see that it is a little more complicated, at first, than it seems. That time, I might have actually put my left foot down first. I find that at slower speeds or if I am going to be turning suddenly, I hop. Sometimes, I hop when I am getting off of the bike instead of going into a good long stride. However, you should swing your right leg back around, you drop it through and clip-out the other leg. If you are not comfortable clipping out, you might want to clip out your left foot before you swing your foot around. After that, just rest your foot on the pedal. Sometimes it?s kind of embarrassing if you fall down. However, that is the basics or mechanics of unclipping swinging your leg through."
