"MICKEY DENONCOURT: When you're riding downhill or free riding, generally your seat's a heck of a lot lower than it is for XC riding and normally you want to put a little bit of an upward tilt on it. So if I was riding XC--well, I couldn't even use this seat post that I have in this bike to ride XC, it's been cut down specifically for this application. so I've got it nice and low so that when I get over my bike, I'm on uneven ground right now but I can easily--on my bike, my feet are super flat on the ground when I'm up over my bike riding I can move all around without it interfering. So that's what I want to look for. I have my--the nose of my seat pointed up because when your seat's low, having it rocked up like that and the few times that you do sit down for this style of riding, having it angled up put you to a more natural, more open hip riding like if you had a higher seat. And the other thing that it does is if you sit down and you're on a downhill which you are probably going to be, it feels a little bit flatter than if you have the nose flat, plus it's just an aesthetic thing-it's what people have always done and to people who ride bikes it looks weird if your seat's low to have it flat. So, one of the things that might avoid some cackles on the lift line."
