"In steeper, muddier terrain you need to be more prepared to slide sideways down the fall line with less control. I mean as you try to turn across the camber, or just try to turn in general, your tires or going to break loose. So what you need to be comfortable with is remembering to weight your inside handlebar, your outside pedal to get your tires digging in. You also want to be looking through your section to make sure you have a line that requires as little turning as possible. I'm going to ride through this sort of off camber, chewed up mud section here, and you'll see, I just look like I'm pinballing back and forth between traction because that?s really when its steep and muddy, that's what you have to do. And that?s where being loose on the bike and being ready to change direction helps. As I rode through that section, I mainly focused on good weight distribution on my bike, across the off camber, weighting my inside handlebar, my outside peddle to make sure I maintain traction. As I got to the part where it was considerably steeper and a little bit more of a drop, I really just focused on looking ahead and riding loose to deal with whatever the terrain put in front of me. And then when I got to the next corner that I needed to make, it was back to inside handlebar, outside peddle to get the tires really digging in so I could arc across the fall line to get where I needed to go."
