"Next in our warm up routine is what's sometimes known as warrior position. This is best understood if seen from the side. Turning to the side we're going to extend, first, the right leg back. Keeping at least, approximately an eight inch to a foot space in between the legs. We want a straight back. The right leg in this case, pushes forward the right hip, extending and straightening. Keep the right hand on the right hip, the left hand goes to the left knee. So now, shifting to the other side. Right hand on the right knee, left hand on the left hip. Body is facing the direction of the right knee. And, that's good. This completes our routine or beginning warm up routines for Tai Chi Chan. There are several other points that should be mentioned. One is that even through the warm up routines one has to be careful not to allow too much energy to build up in the thighs. So it's very typical, and very necessary for a partitioner to just gently kick out the legs and throw the arms down. It's not important to always do all the exercises if you can you should do as many as you can and try to do them as long as possible. But, don't feel that you have to do every single one every single time. Just try to come back to the ones that you like and the ones that you don't like as much as you can. And, make sure that all of your body is at least warmed up. In some way, shape, or form before you start."
