"MICHAEL LEWIS: Michael Lewis with Yeshua Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of Expert Village. We are talking today about inboard wrist locks, how to apply them, and how to use them for your self defense. Now there is another wrist lock, sort of within the inboard wrist lock that you can also apply, has a little bit different technique to it but is still along the same lines. If you were to grab me on my shoulder, I will begin to start out just like I would with the inboard wrist lock but instead of going completely to the inboard, I stop halfway to where his pinkie side of his hand is straight along his arm, straight up vertical. And so what I do is I take the pinkie side up and I begin to just apply pressure straight down. It causes a lot of pain in the wrist on that side, so what happens is I am applying pressure straight down. Be careful not to wobble back and forth because then that would take away from your technique from here, I am no longer applying the correct pressure, so you have to sort of adjust a little bit and also converse with your partner to see how well that technique is being applied. So, you keep his pinkie side up and just apply torque. You don not have to do a huge motion, you just push down on one side and pull up on the other side; it is a very small motion to be able to get him to go down to the ground. So that is inside of the inboard wrist lock. It is right before you get into the inboard wrist lock you have a half wrist lock. So you also have two options there. Just in case maybe your hand slips, you are not able to get it, you are able to just sort of grab right here whichever way and just be able to apply this half wrist lock. So, like I said before, jujutsu, none of your techniques come out perfectly and clean cut so that is a technique that you can pretty much rely on to be able to apply and just in case anything happens with your grip. So that is just one small technique that is inside of the inboard wrist lock."
