"Michael Lewis with Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of Expert Village and we are here today to cover the sai. Now we are going to show you how to defend against a straight collar grab. He grabs me here at the collar, and what I do is take the hook of the weapon and hook in across his wrist and actually begin to move my body inward and at the same time I begin to move his wrist across the body. That what would either will happen is, of course I get his hand off of my collar, or I begin to lock his wrist. So if he has a hard grab and he stays right there, I can actually begin to lock his wrist against my body and that way be able to lock and follow up with a strike. However, if his hand does come off, he locks, I pry in and rip it off, well then I just gained an advantage moving to the outside of his body. So from here, I have my strikes to the temple using the ball of the weapon. And also, have strikes here to the ribs and the kidneys, also again with the ball of the weapon. Also if you want to you can flip it out and then you have your stab strike, your stabbing. As you come back around, he grabs again, just to sort of review. Take the hook of the weapon, it is a very quick technique. You just rip it off and move your body inward at the same time. That way you will possible either lock his wrist or you will just rip it off and gain an advantage to the outside of his body."
