"MICHAEL LEWIS: Michael Lewis with the Yeshua Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of Expert Village. We're talking today about arm bars, how to apply them and how to apply them safely. Okay to sum it all up, we've worked our arm bars from the inside of the body and the outside of the body. We also talked about the three main points which is making sure where you're applying the pressure along the elbow or you apply it there on the elbow or an inch above, also that you rotate it so that you do expose the bend of his arm straight up or whichever direction that you're applying your arm bar into, and also that you give some extra rotation to the arm sort of like a rubber band. You take and twist a rubber band too much eventually it's going to shrink up or it's going to pop, so it's the same concept with the arm. Also we did talk about safety and how important that is that when you're working with a partner that you're comfortable with each other that you're also paying attention to when they're tapping so you can immediately let loose or they can let loose of your arm. And also just control and speed, make sure all your movements flow with each other that they're fluid and that you're doing it at a comfortable speed for each other. And finally, we've also talked about a few takedowns that you can use. A takedown is an awesome technique to use along with the arm bar because you gain control. You take them down. You have not injured the person but you have definitely have defended yourself effectively. And that's pretty much a summary of your arm bar."
