Break a Board with a Knife Hand Strike

"Michael Lewis here with Christian Martial Arts on behalf of Expert Village, we're going over today how to break boards with your hands. Now we're going to knife hand, over knife hand strike breaking the board. There's two ways to actually do this; you can actually throw a knife hand strike, if he holds his board up, you can throw a knife hand strike sort of like you would throw a back fist; instead your just angling the blade of your hand toward the board, this way. Or, if you go over to the other side, you can throw it inwards, almost like you'd throw a hammer fist, and strike that way. My preference is to be able to throw it just like this, because it helps and it's actually a little bit more practical for me in the way that I fight, I throw a lot back fists and a lot of knife hand strikes. So, again, you're going to make sure that you're lining yourself up center with the board that you're striking. And keep in mind, because he's not facing me, I'm going to have to make sure that I still penetrate the board, and still come out on this side of the board. So, as I get myself set up, I'm going to make sure first to line myself up, and to be able to penetrate through the board. Also, when you come through, you also want to make sure you're not catching the edge of the boar on your wrist, that's something you're not careful of you might accidentally catch it, and it's going to hurt quite a bit. You get your proper technique down, making sure that you're placing your hand in the center, that you're not actually going to hit his fingers, that you're aiming straight for the center, and that you're able to come through. Again you're going to count, one, two, and on three you're going to throw the strike and yell, "Ki-ya!". Three, "Ki-ya!" And there I was demonstrating how to break a board with a knife-hand strike."
