"Michael Lewis with Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of the Expert Village. We're going over today how to break boards with your feet. Now we're going to demonstrate a different technique. I'm going to break a board with a side kick. You're going to have to set yourself up a little bit differently and plus it depends on what type of side kick you're going to do. You can do a spinning sidekick, a step behind side kick or you can do a side kick right off the front leg. So again you're going to have to measure out your distance. He gets ready for a break. He's going to hold the board straight up and down vertically. Again, the grain is running horizontally. He has the concave side of the board facing towards me, the striking surface. I get myself set up for the kick. I do a few practice ones. I want to do a step behind side kick so I'm going to chamber up. I'm going to throw the kick, make sure I'm aiming right in the center. Again, I'm striking with the bottom of my foot. Some people strike with the side of their foot. So I give it once, twice, third time I'm going to yell "Kiai". And that's how you're going to break a board with a side kick."
