"Michael Lewis with Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of the Expert Village. We're going over today how to break boards with your feet. Now I'm going to demonstrate for you breaking the board with a front kick. So your board holder sets himself up. He gets into a good stance. He's going to angle the board. Now keep in mind, different people throw different front kicks so the angle may have to change. You're going to have to find where your comfort zone is at when you throw those kicks. Also height is very important. It's easier to throw a lower kick. It's great to start out to throw a lower kick as you're breaking boards. Starting a high front kick is going to be a little bit harder so I suggest starting at the bottom. Now, I?m going to start out at the bottom here just to demonstrate. When you set up, you can get yourself into your fighting stance. Work your way up. Okay. Visualize yourself breaking the board. Do it slow to make sure you're getting a good, good focus on the center of the board and that you're going to strike it correctly. Again, take one, two and on the third time you're going to yell, "Kiai" and break the board. And that way when you have a competent board holder and you have correct technique you can definitely guaranty that the board will break."
