"Hi! This is Mike on behalf of expertvillage.com. For more information about how to pack a bike, please visit Prairie Path Cycles in Winfield, Illinois or check us out on line at www.prairiepathcycles.com. In this next clip, I am going to be showing you how to take off your seat and seat posts in order to get your bike ready to be shipped. Now depending upon where you are going to be working on your bike, you may want to do this before you put the materials on your bike but because I am using a bike stand, it's a little easier to do that when the bike is up in the air as opposed to when it is on the ground. So I take the bike out of the bike stand here and then show you how to take the seat and seat posts off. Now this bike is going to be pretty simple because it has a quick release seat post. If you do have an older bike or if you have a kids bike, it will most likely going to need a tool to take off your seat and seat posts but for the newer styled bikes, all the Mountain Bikes, hybrids and row bikes, typically the are going to be coming with a quick release seat post. For that it is just like taking off your front wheel. You got a little lever here and when you pull that out, it is going to loosen up the tension on the seat and seat post area and your seat post just slides right out. Good thing you want to make sure you do is also take off your seat posts clamp off of your bike; just give it a few twists and it just pops right out and just package this up with the rest of the stuff like your pedals and your front quick release skewer that way everything is on the same plate. If you did leave it on your bike when you were shipping it, there is a chance that because you don't have your seat posts in there, that could rattle loose and fall off and even if there is a small hole in your bike box, you could possibly loose this so it is always good to keep it in with everything else.
