"Hi! This is Mike on behalf of expertvillage.com. For more information about how to pack a bike, please visit Prairie Path Cycles in Winfield, Illinois or check us out on line at www.prairiepathcycles.com. In this clip, I am going to be showing you how to position the derailures and the chain so that way it is less likely to get damaged when you are shipping your bike. So the firs thing you are going to want to do is work with the front derailure and sprockets up here and you are going to want to shift your chain up to the top most sprocket. You want to do that just so that there is no teeth exposed on the top sprocket so if it does happen to hit the ground hard, it can't bend individual teeth because the chain will be on it protecting it. The other thing you are going to want to do is back here in the rear derailure which is this mechanism back here, is shift up to at least somewhere in the middle if not, the top gear. When you do that, you can see here that the derailure moved in a lot and that way the more it is in, the more less likely it is going to get damaged because you will have the frame here kind of protecting it. So again, basically the things that we did here are to protect the rear derailure and the front sprockets or chain rings from getting damaged when you ship your bike. "
