"Hi, I'm Mike Payne, owner of the Martial Arts Academy, speaking on behalf of Expert Village. I will discuss the topic of what to look for in a good martial arts school. As far as I'm concerned, every martial arts school has its strengths and its weaknesses. As far as a particular style goes, what we've tried to do at our school is to incorporate some of the best of each martial arts style. We use a little bit of Taekwondo, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This way, we have a well rounded curriculum which prepares our students for almost any type of self-defense situation. I think that it is important to use safety gear, where the kids can really experience what the different techniques actually feel like. They should really learn how to block and defend themselves, without fear of getting hurt. A lot of schools will offer weapons, such as these padded nunchucks. If you hit yourself with these, you won't get hurt."
