Video Transcript

"On behalf of Expert Village, I am Master Dave Herbert from the World Martial Arts Center, World Pro Hapkido Federation in New York City. Today, we'll be showing you some beginning Bushido. Our first beginning technique is for basic lapel grab. The hand that's not holding me is the problem, not the one that's holding me. This one is safe -- that's the problem. So, I shift, moving away from that hand, striking to eliminate the use of this one, then pressing that one to thumb, I apply a thumb lock using the base of my palm. I keep it close to my body, snapping it in as I drop my weight. From this position, I walk him over onto his stomach, and finished. And, now, for normal speed, real-time, he's holding me, that's the threat, so I have to shift quickly."
