"In this clip, we're going to talk about what really makes a good kite surfing launch. You want to look out for like a couple of key factors here but, especially the fact that you're allowed to kite surf there. With the sport growing as fast as it is, you know, all these different places around the country are becoming very established with it. And some days, you're coming out to a certain launch and you see as many as fifty kiters. Things like swim areas, lifeguards, things like that where, you know, they could put a restriction on your access with that location. Always double check with the rules and regulations for a local launch, especially if it's not your local launch. You don't want to go to somebody else's place, screw everything up for them and then just get out of town and, you know, leave them with all your mess. Things that you want to really pay attention to is the fact that you have a nice open area. You don't want to kite near people, swimmers, surfers, pedestrians, beach goers any of that. Anytime people see that, you know, it just looks kind of dangerous. People think instantly lawsuit and then what happens is they restrict your access for kite surfing and they will even sometimes close launches. And I've seen them go as far as, you know, cut people's lines and if they're trying to put up in a place where there've been incidents and accidents. So, good areas where, you know, there's sand, you don't want any sort of big drift lines with glass, nails, fishhooks, rusty things, whatever, you know, sand, but grass is awesome. Because sand, once it gets in your kite is what it is, it's like sandpaper it can actually wear and tear that thing real quickly. So any type of an open area, always check out before you put your kite down. You want to make sure that everything is clear. But mostly, stay away from people and make sure you are in a controlled area. Best kind of place to learn is where it's only for kite surfing you don't have actual beach goers and you have flat water, shallow. And especially if you can do it, go to an offshore kite school because they will take you out into flat somewhere and you know you're just going to be the only one out there so there's nothing you can hit, nobody you harm, no one to injure and you know, it's just smooth sailing out there."
