on 8/2/2008 A vey poor example of a hip throw. Your bringing your butt up, a big no-no. Your missing what makes the throw work-proper use of the hands and hips. The feet are in the wrong position on the juji gatame too.

Video Transcript

" Hello! I’m Marc Zee from Arizona Center of mixed martial arts on behalf of expertvillage.com. I’m here to demonstrate the hip toss to an arm bar. Go ahead guys. Alright, what we’re demonstrating here…First, we’re demonstrating a hip toss. With the hip toss, let’s say the guy comes up and grabs me. What I’m going to do here is I’m going to grab onto his belt, I’m going to under hook his arm, I’m going to grab him around the head, depending on what’s more comfortable to me. As I grabbed his belt, my foot’s going to step on the inside, I’m going to spin around. A lot of people when they do the hip toss, their feet are on the outside. From here, I don’t have the leverage to accurately do the throw. What I’m looking for is once I grab, I want to see the squats so all the strength is in the legs. It becomes much lighter rather than this position here, I don’t have the physics to actually execute the throw. When you see the do the throw, here lift. Okay. If you notice when I step, my footsteps inside, I pivot back, I hook up the arm, or I hook up the opposite arm. It doesn’t where my grip goes, it matters where my hips are. From here, simple lift. Once I throw them here, you notice what’s left, the arm. From here, I’m stepping over, falling back to the arm bar. Excuse me that I’m wired for sound. Demonstrate one more time guys. Slow. Step through, pivot, load him up, throw. What’s left is the arm, steps over, arm bar. "
