"Welcome to Expert Village. My name is Lloyd Reeves and we are just going to do a short bit on a wet exit. A wet exit is when you fall over in either your sea kayaker or white water boat. Sea Kayak’s have these nylon skirts usually and they are nice because if you mess up they almost come off by themselves but not always. White water ones, neoprene killer type. We intentionally put this one on wrong so you can see what happens if you mess up. Let’s say I go over and the first thing you do is reach for your handle to pop your skirt off. If you don’t get that handle you may not be able to get out of here. It is possible to get these covers on wrong like we’ve done. I can going to fix that real fast. Let’s say I am upside down, trying to get this off. That could be a real headache. Now I have it on right. You go over and get new sweeping and you don’t even need your eyes open. You just sweep across, pop that thing off so you can get out of your boat. Most important thing with these spray skirts is know where this is. You will see some of the more experienced white water guys have a golf ball on here. They want to be able to rip that thing off if they blow their roll. "
