"Hi, my name is Lucy Spain on behalf of Expert Village. Here to talk about an introduction to cheer leading. Now if this is your first time trying out for a cheer leading squad, you are going to need to know what category you fall into when it comes to stunting. If you cheered before and you are used to it, you are probably going to know where you feel comfortable. If that's the case, you need to make sure that you are flexible because not every squad can have all fliers, not every squad can have all bases or spotters so you're going to have to be flexible. If this is your first time, you are going to have to do some research and find out what position would be best to suit you. A flier is going to be a girl that goes up in the air. Usually to take into factor of that is going to be your body type you are usually going to be about 140 pounds or under. It all doesn't depend on your weight because you can fly 140 pounds compared to 80 pounds. Sometimes the bigger girl will be a better flier if she is tight and fit. The second position is going to be a base. Now there are two different bases; there is a main base which is going to be the girl that is taking most of the weight she is going to be standing over on the left side with her hands placed like this, holding the front and the back of the foot. The secondary base will be over on the right side holding both sides of the foot, some girls find it comfortable to do top and bottom to get balanced. Some girls will do bottom and side or ankle. Girls who make good bases are definitely girls who have good core strength and good upper body strength. You also need to feel confident and durable cause you are going to be catching your flier a lot. Last but not least we have spotters which are very important. Usually spotters need to be the tallest girls in the group. The reason why is because you're going to have to hold the ankles up above all the other girls arms in the back or in the front. It's really important if you are a spotter to be a very reliable person because you are basically holding this girl safely in your hands. So I would definitely say about your body type pick what position you would think you can succeed the best in."
