"The first exercise I am going to demonstrate for you is called a knee extension. Now a sitting knee extension is wonderful for the quadricep, and the quadricep is the largest muscle in the leg and it definitely can support us in all of our movements as for as walking, lifting, jumping, anything goes. It's important to have strong quads, especially if you have weak knees. So to perform this exercise you're simply going to sit up straight, you're going to do legs, feet flat on the floor, about hip width apart, and then with your back straight, simply put your hands behind you to support your body, lean back and then what we're going to do is kick one leg forward, actually not kick, we're just going to extend the knee. We're going to keep this portion of our leg straight and extend and the knee from there and then go down. Point the toe and control the movement all the up and all the way down. I would say complete twelve to fifteen on each side. So now I'll demonstrate further. You want to make sure your back is straight. You want to make sure your core is engaged. When your core is engaged this also helps carry the body, therefore taking more stress off of the knees when we have a strong core. So this is an exercise that definitely strengthens not only the quadricep but the core as well. And so you would do the same thing on the other side. And make sure you're breathing. As long as you keep this movement slow and controlled you'll definitely get stronger from the legs up. And that's a knee extension."
