"Hello, my name is Kyle Brayer, and your next in-home leg workout will be the calf raise. The calf raise can be performed, if you have a set of stairs at home, on a step, or, if you have a step workout box, you can use something like this, anything that you can get your toes up on. So today Karie will be using this step for demonstrating. She'll come up all the way onto the step. She's using a stair to help keep her balance. She's going to try and let her heels hang off the back of the step and just have her toes on there, that's really going to isolate those calves. So she's going to come all the way down, that will be her starting position, and then she'll raise up as high as she can on her toes and then back down. Up is the positive portion, so she's exhaling and then she's inhaling on her way down. Up, and back down. You can go ahead and step off, Karie. So the key here is keeping the legs as straight as possible, it'll help isolate the calf, breathing just like normal, and then she also will show you the one legged variation where she will come up just on her right leg. Come up, and back down, and up and back down. You can relax. The one legged variation is a nice way to add weight, so rather than holding dumbbells with the two legged variation you can just use one leg and you're using your body weight, isolating on the single calf. So that is the calf raise on a step. "
