"This is Kyle Hovercamp in Skatechurch in Portland, OR on behalf of Expert Village this is a tutorial of how to do a boardslide on your skateboard. In this clip we're going to be talking about boardslides on handrails what a handrail is a rail that goes downstairs it's called a handrail because people put their hands on there when they're walking downstairs. The main difference between a handrail and a flat bar is this isn't flat it down slopes so if you're doing a frontslide boardslide you have to lean back. If you're doing a backside boardslide you have to lean forward and if you lean back on a backside boardslide. You're going to hit the rail in the butt. If you lean forward on the frontslide boardslide you're going to rack your sack on the rail and that's not fun. Handrails are found all over the place most of time people skate square rails they're a lot easier to balance on but there's also a circle rails. A lot of people get scared of handrails because when you're standing next to it, it seems like it's really high like up to your hip. But in reality the faster you go the more you gap out to it, so if you go onto the rail right here from where you ollied it's about ten inches maybe so it's not actually as high as you think it is. The main thing about hand rails is you have to commit to the trick or you're going to get hurt you can't really urn it off down off a handrail. It's really hard cause you can either land on the stairs or drop on the other end and it's hard to catch yourself so just commit. So right now I'm going to demonstrate a front slide boardslide everything still applies just like on a flat bar, you have to keep your balance speed. The amount between you and rail if I hit my front trunk on it and if I'm too close I'm going down so everything still applies and the main thing is still go for it. So when you're bailing or falling on a handrail you got a lot of momentum it's really hard to walk it off if you can't do it try to take the fall on your butt, you might hurt your tail bone or something. But it's a lot better than racking it and you just got to practice it a lot just go for it, remember to commit so you don't hurt yourself as bad, and maybe start off with smaller rails first."
