"OK, the next one we are going to do is a clove hitch. A clove hitch is a temporary knot because unless there's tension on the line, it will loosen up and that's not very secure. You could use this for attaching your boat to a mooring pole or railing depending on what they might have at your marina. Over the top, create your "X", back underneath, and then bring the end underneath the criss cross part and then tighten. That's a clove hitch. OK, the next one we are going to do is a cleat hitch. A cleat hitch is used for tying the line to the boat, on a cleat or to the dock. So, to do the cleat hitch, bring it around one full turn around one side, then over the top, create a figure eight and this is where you are creating your loop to finish off your knot. You pull it tight. The key here is to have your end piece parallel with the figure eight. That's a cleat hitch."
