"KEVIN BARRET: Okay, thanks for logging on the Expert Village. Again, I'm Kevin Barret and I'm here teaching how to use jumping stilts. Now, I'll tell you all the basics about knowing your surroundings, what kind of stilts are out there, the price ranges, where to buy them. You are all set now to actually get up and start using these stilts, alright? What we have here is I'm all strapped up. I've got a chair that is just tall enough so that your feet are parallel to the ground, right? That's very important. You want to keep your feet parallel to the ground at all times. If you get your feet off, you're going to have a lot--a harder time balancing, alright? So, we're on our flat cement ground here, we have our wall right here. So, here we go. Make sure you have a firm grip on the wall right here, make sure your feet are parallel to your flat ground, alright? You're going to put mostly your weight on the wall here as you extend your legs, alright? Now, it's just like you're standing on one place, right? What you're going to do, get your bearing straight, get your feet even. What you need to remember is to actually keep your feet on this platform, alright? You're already strapped there but you want to make sure you know that you're walking on the platform not on the peg at the bottom of the stilt, alright? That's going to help you a lot just getting your mind straight around this, okay? So, make sure you get your bearing straight. Hold on to the wall as much as you need to, okay? When you feel comfortable, you can start letting go of the wall, alright? And then, stand in place. The problem with these stilts is you're not going to be able to just stand completely steady. It's just not made that way. If you're using dry wall stilts, they have a big flat foot and you can stand as steady as you want to. The problem with jumping stilts is it's just a peg so it's going to be a little bit more wobbly. You're just going to have to get used to that, alright? So, make sure you have a wall next to you at all times."
