"KEVIN BARRETT: Okay, we're back with how to use a wheelchair. Now, before you get started using the wheelchair, you want to make sure that you're safe. Now I know that these things are intended for safety, right? This is for older people that need to get around safely, but the ways we're going to be using them is not going to be necessarily safe. So, what I have here is a typical bicycle helmet. So, this helmet, simply strap on because when you're riding around on this things and doing wheelies, you tend to go back and if you fall backward, you're going to hit your head. We don't want that to happen, but if it does happen you always want to be prepared with the proper safety gear, okay. So, we have our bike helmet right here that you put on. Also, you're going to be using the wheels right here, and you're going to be holding on this. Now, when you're getting up and spinning around, doing all your tricks in the wheelchair, it really hurts the palm of your hand. I've gotten a lot bruises and stuff on my palms right here. Also, sometimes, your fingers will get caught in a spoke, so you want to make sure that you are wearing safety gloves. Okay. Now, these gloves are great because it covers the palm of your hand, making a very nice smooth area for your hand to land on. So, those are the two safety equipment that you need to properly ride a wheelchair."
