"Hi, I'm Kevin Byford with the Ski and Snowboard Schools of Aspen on behalf of the Expert Village. Next you want to determine at what angle you want your bindings on the board, because they can be turned around. Your back foot, which is my left foot right here, this is generally somewhere around zero degrees, or at right angles to the angle of the board. The front foot, anywhere from fifteen to twenty-five degrees would be a good angle to have it turned at. Ask someone at the shop whether they can determine this for you. The next very important part of your equipment is your snowboard boot. The key thing here is comfort. Comfort all the way. Okay, you want to make sure that your toes are maybe just to the end of the boot, just touching the end, and that your heel is snug in the boot, and that you can tighten it down so that your heel does not lift up in the boot. That's the key thing. Whenever you're learning something new, especially in the action sports arena, you definitely want to take some safety precautions. For snowboarding, one of those things is a helmet. Okay, the helmet--be clear that it fits you, won't come off your head, and it doesn't hurt your head. Make sure it's got plenty of foam inside and that your chin strap will fit right beneath you, and that your goggles will fit around it, so when you go out on the hill you're ready to go."
